The Atlantikwall Museum Scheveningen Foundation was founded on 1st January 2005. Its statutes are registered in The Hague.
The Hague is the international city of justice and peace, the legal capital of the world. She is featured prominently in the world news through important international organisations like the International Criminal Court (ICC), the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the Yugoslavia Tribunal (ICTY). In addition to these administrations of justice impressive clusters of non-governmental organisations and institutes of knowledge have followed in their wake.
The Atlantikwall Museum anticipates a further expansion of these developments and aims to provide a meeting ground for war, peace and justice.
As a living monument dedicated to peace education, the Museum aims to provide a setting for exhibitions and conferences and organises personal tours
In conjunction with existing cultural institutions in The Hague and other Atlantikwall museums elsewhere, the museum aims to place specific local history in an international context.
The Stichting Atlantikwall Museum Scheveningen (Atlantikwall Museum Scheveningen Foundation) aims to propagate peace awareness by:
| ● |
|
Introducing the general public to the Atlantikwall in all its diverse appearances within the immediate area of The Hague |
| ● |
|
Encouraging interest in peace related issues so as to contribute to the advancement of peace in the greatest sense of the word and the cultivation of its founding principles |
| ● |
|
Educating through use of specific information about the consequences of war and/or threat of war as they would apply to citizens and society |
| ● |
|
Making thereby use of a WWII bunker complex as permanent Peace Monument; restored, managed and made accessible to the public by
the Foundation |
| ● |
|
